Pros

Employees are paid well and as long as you come into a team at a junior position you have opportunities to learn and grow.

Cons

If you come into a team at a senior position there is no room for growth or learning. It is almost impossible to leave a contract to find advancement or growth. In addition salaries are based on title which reflects years in a position not experience and knowledge. Which translates to two identical people with the same title and salary carrying differing levels of workload.

Pros

They offer a competitive benefits package and a generous degree completion program. They have a widely dispersed work force and it is easy to find new jobs within the company for those looking to only spend a year or two on one task.

Cons

They push too strongly to turn work for government clients into business development opportunities. For an IT company, the internal IT infrastructure sucks. They often seem more profit-driven than job-focused. Bureaucracy slows their ability to respond to emerging opportunities.

Pros

Schedule flexibility, opportunities to move to other projects. I have been able to maintain an excellent work/life balance. This may be specific to my project, but I consider this to be one of the best benefits I've had. Too bad the rest leave a great deal to be desired (see next section).

Cons

Not very employee focused. Benefits are poor compared to other, similar size firms (no sick leave for example). Employees not given stock options - stock purchase plan is very poor. Employee recognition is usually in the form of congratulatory certificates - rarely any actual cash bonuses. Limited health insurance options for a firm this size.
