Pros

CACI used to be a well-regarded company. I like the people I work with, who try very hard to do the right thing and maintain a positive attitude despite the workload, cutbacks, and expectations that are not based in reasonable accounting for hours and efforts.

Cons

CACI used to have the feel of a small company where everyone knows your name, even as it moved past $3B and had the heft to swing against the larger competition. Leadership of the past 12-18 months has changed that. While they've shifted resources to make some sorely needed fixes to the IT infrastructure and a few other areas, the overall tone is one that doesn't foster teamwork, trust, or the venerable CACI values. The company has gone through at least three major reorganizations with hundreds of personnel let go. In a down-turning market, some of that is to be expected, however it was managed so poorly as to have damaged on-going operations and relationships with our customers. Senior leadership is so focused on the quarterly numbers they've ceased actually leading.

Pros

At the most senior levels and on the board there are some truly great leaders with high standards and a great track record. Unfortunately due to some not so great leadership at the executive levels much of the message is lost, destroyed or ignored. Despite the commoditized employee environment the company still manages to retain some truly great people at the technical level. If your in an individual performer position (non-manager) your pretty much left alone to do your work. which can be great given the current stress in the federal markets. Benefits are decent, although recent changes (as a result of the market) have weakened the offerings.

Cons

Every employee is just a number and if your contract ends so does your employment. There is very little effort to help place employees after they lose coverage regardless of whether they are a performer. There are tools in place to help find something in the company but your only real chance is if you are well connected and can pave your own way to something else. The growth strategy is illogical and seems to defy the market and any internal strategies of how to get there. It feels like the senior management is flying blind and only looking out for themselves. At the management level it certainly appears like the employee and customer receive the least attention from corporate and are not high priority. It would appear that the current focus is on the shareholders which is eroding away future prospects. Very little opportunity for career growth, many managers hold their people back and the company has made a point over the last two years to look outside for executive positions. This is not a company that you can hire on, bust your tail and work your way up the chain.
