DO NOT work for CBRE

Pros

I have a company vehicle, and the benefits are decent.

Cons

I am a Field Service Technician. My company was purchased by CBRE and everything went to garbage. Our “raises” are absolute trash now and we are nothing but numbers to CBRE. The only way I would suggest working for this company is if you are high ranking office personnel. This is a real estate management company, they had ZERO business purchasing a Bio Tech service company. They don’t have a single clue how our company operates and they definitely do not understand the pay scale. They treat their Field Techs like garbage. You are just a number to them. I went from loving my job to hating it within a month of CBRE purchasing my company.

Pros

They give 4 weeks of PTO which is great, Their benefits are great mostly but based on your level of pay, they have locations all over the world which is great for those that like to be nomads or interacts across timezones.

Cons

In short, I was hired in summer of 2022 on an experimental team to help the A&T area grab more clients are commercial real estate has become a dumpster fire due to the pandemic. I was hired along with a white woman and an asian guy who was the "manager" of the team. As time carried on, I could tell both of these individuals lied on their resume or had very poor work ethic. They were both non-caring and pretty lax and sloppy about processes and results. I Ama. reputation person and so this bothered me deeply. I was the only person on the team who had a M.S. degree, and I'm a black woman so of course I had to have more education to qualify where they did not. Either way, we worked, our work direction changed often as we were attempting to connect with various teams to meet their needs. These teams were not very welcoming and we had to convince them often of our team's worth. They were very condescending especially many of the white women I interacted with. Anyway, our director got very quite for about 3 months and did not set up any update meetings. In Jan 2024, he added a random meeting on our calendars and we were terminated, but not the white lady on our team. So me, black women who is 6 months pregnant, and Asian man were let go as our team was dissolved. They seemed to be able to find a place for the white lady, who is my opinion was the not competent at all to do the level of work that was needed for great outcomes. So, we are provided a half-trash severance package and loss of insurance in the middle of a pregnancy with no space to plan. Oh and they pay well-below market!

Pros

Large corporation with many opportunities for growth, flexible work options, offer good benefits

Cons

Coming from a much smaller, but large corporation, CBRE is almost too big to really make an employee feel like part of something bigger than their own role. It’s been challenging to feel like my role has a purpose or is truly seen as a value to the market.
