Mediocrity is the norm.

Pros

Downtown Chicago location is a historic and LEED-certified building that is close to public transportation. Company has been successful and profitable despite itself. Solid book of insurance and automotive repair shop businesses rely upon CCC ONE which truly is a great product.

Cons

Lack of accountability is a pervasive problem. There is no career path or development program for staff and successful planning is not discussed. Respect among executives is weak. Lack of investment in the valuation product that made CCC continues to hurt its ability to complete. Ongoing layoffs and isolated bad managers have built up a "revolving door" reputation in the local market.

Pros

-Can work from home on occassion -Physically a nice office -Benefits on par -Bonus possibility

Cons

Overall, the company is not a place for people who are looking for stability or a career, or a place where they are valued and/or recognized. The change in CTO early last year started a downward spiral of the technology division of the company. There is no direction, no structure, and no value placed in the employees of the company. Several mass layoffs have occurred, with many of the jobs going overseas. The new management team brought in (to replace the old (laid off) seasoned, knowledgeable, and skilled management team) completely lacks skill, thought, direction, and independence. Fear tactics are used to ensure execution of the directives that come directly from the top. No discussions or collaboration occur of any kind. It is essentially an authoritarian rule, creating the overall feeling/energy very dark, unhappy, and heavy. In summary, - Layoffs can be expected either in December before Christmas, or in Q1 before possible bonus. (Layoffs happen every year.) - No direction or structure to the organization. There have been about 5-7 "re-orgs" within the last 14 months alone. - Collaboration is frowned upon, there is no cohesion. Everything comes from the top, and there shall be no exceptions. - No value placed in its employees. - Fear tactics are used to control the employees (meaning, no job if methods are questioned or an alternative way of doing things is offered) - Lots of overtime required (and not valued) - No confidence in trusting HR. Conversations seem to get back to the new management team, who has complete rule. - New management lacks management skills, both for people and project management; and they don’t understand the business. - Most of the core knowledge of the technology/systems/business have either been laid off or have left the company, making it more challenging to “get up to speed.”
