Pros

Pro- If you work hard and hang in there, it is financially rewarding. CDWG takes care of there perfomers and people who leave usually regret it. The pay is only 25K a year for base so you must hit goal to be compensated for it. But if you hit it consistentaly, your commission checks will be about 12-22K a month. Plus the atmosphere is energetic and you get some great friends along the way. Vendors also have trip contests and there are spiffs so the compensation is high

Cons

A complete sales organization that micromanages. Numbers are constantly monitored and the goals are monthly so they do go up. The resources are running thin and you do run into issues where you just can't compete at the same level as your competitors.

Pros

Young Atmosphere, opportunity to make a lot of money. Great financial rewards for hitting quota. The management is good at pushing you to achieve.

Cons

Micromanagement. CDW being purely a sales organization does not care about how much a sales rep sells, moreover they are concerned about metrics such as talk time & phone calls made. Additionally, when it comes to opportunity for growth seniority and not skill is the biggest factor for the organization.

Pros

The best technical professionals in the country and over 20000 vendor partnerships. Despite the lagging economy we're still growing. Great management - it's clear that everyone is on the same team, but some people happen to have direct reports and are responsible for others' performance and growth. Unlimited possibilities - if one were to jump from engineering to project management to somewhere else the opportunity is there, just put it in your Individual Development Plan with your manager.

Cons

The strong commitment to customer satisfaction can really leave an engineer wanting better work/life balance. As a young guy it's not TOO bad but looking down the road to a family and children I'm not sure I could keep doing it even with an understanding spouse. Weekend cuts, late-night cuts, general bending over backwards for clients and what I think are unreasonable expectations of "reachability" on my "off hours" can really take their toll.
