Most of the engagements do feel more like staff aug, but the consultants still bring their expertise and leadership to the client teams even when placed into certain situations.
I was hired during the influx where hundreds of consultants were being placed almost every other week at the company, business was booming, sales were up, i was placed into my first engagement within 2-3 weeks after starting. As a starter the work was initially interesting but later down the line grew cumbersome and only hand full of consultants were placed onto green field new development projects where the rest were stuck to rot and keep spinning the old monolith app from the early 90s. As a seasoned engineer i wasn't given the opportunity to shine where i was suited for but rather thrown into a large stack of weeds to figure out what i was supposed to do, after thinking thru I quit that role and went back to bench in hopes of finding a better fits at one of the other clients to much of my disappointment the next client was even more disoriented where the expected work was totally out of order with no direction in sight, we as consultants tried our best to figure out tooth and nail of it but to much of our disappointment we didn’t have any experienced people that were familiar with this work type environment. We kept spinning the wheels until our project was cut short and we were back to base 1 — i mean bench, i spent most of my time in internal projects , enhancements and or limited training opportunities we had consultants that were on bench for more than 6 months with no actual working experience in the industry which was a sad sight. i got into my third engagement almost after 2 months with a bigger client in retail this project was structured as an SOW, with a shrewd micromanager who made life miserable for consultants working on the project, although this project had potential to win more business and work for the company the management style of work really disoriented and disrupted the workflow of the core team. I had positives to share as well but the negative experiences outgrew them. Later on we were able to successfully deliver upon the sow project, and i was thanked and farewelled off the project. Although the management was unprepared and poor in communicating that my time would be coming to and end there. After leaving the role almost after 3 days being back on the bench i suddenly get an invite from HR and partner I was being laid off almost immediately with additional 20+ consultants also let go that very same day and this was right after new years and xmas.
This deliberate and unprofessional behavior was totally unacceptable where you’re let go of an instant without ever having empathy and or thinking of others as human beings.
I was in middle of my growth, and showcased my talent and skills even got awarded snd recognized by some amazing people that i worked with here but in the end it left a bitter taste where i kept dog chasing for a promotion later on but didn't get the recognition or chance to get it. What really threw me off was the lack of professionalism and communication at the firm at the end you are just a number on the spreadsheet where they can terminate you instantly without ever recognizing the great work and value you have had provided to the company in recent years.
Bonus structure is minimal but stable income
Highly unrecommended dont work here even though the daughtery business solution is no longer and has been bought out by CGIMost of the engagements do feel more like staff aug, but the consultants still bring their expertise and leadership to the client teams even when placed in certain situations.
