      CGI is a good place to work but your experience will depend greatly on your manager.

      Pros

      Great learning opportunities, decent compensation, great people. I've never had a problem moving into different positions. If you are smart and ambitious you can move ahead quickly.

      Cons

      Benefits are not great. There is no pension. If you get a bad manager your opportunities are very limited. The type of experience you have at CGI will depend highly on your manager. Getting into the right organization is very important as movement between SI (systems integration - programmers, architects, etc.) and OMS (operations management - support staff, systems adminstrators, etc.) is rare and difficult. I recommend SI.

      Pros

      It is after all a well-regarded company in Montreal.

      Cons

      Compensation and benefits are low because bonuses are low in general. I think employees have noticed that on a period of several years and that hurts the company a lot. There is no pension plan so it is really not very attractive to employees here in Quebec who can compare with other companies that traditionally offer pension plans.

      Pros

      A very laid-back, fun place to work (at least in my group). Hours are lenient as long as you're being productive and accomplishing things on track. Everybody's really willing to be helpful and get you what you need.

      Cons

      Can't really think of any off the top of my head. Many, many status meetings.
