Pros

Great people (those who actually stick around and don't leave for more pay and better benefits). Smart managers who know what's going on and how to address the problems. Flexible work hours.

Cons

Very low pay. Benefits are below industry standards. Work-load is not particularly exciting.

Pros

Stable job, with easy working hours. Flexible work environment where telecommuting is allowed. Great opportunities for career development through training. Great for increasing your knowledge. Standard practices and processes allow for relatively easy integration and minimal ramp up time to learn the basics of the organization. From a consulting perspective, CGI's internal tools to monitor budgets, resource allocations, and progress are excellent. Depending on the group or manager you work for, great flexibility to manage personal commitments. CGI encourages community through certain programs and social events. Social events tend to be geared towards employees with young families. Great discounts offered through social events.

Cons

Boring work depending on which business unit you work for. CSB was very limited in their vision, and have no real clue on what life will be like once BCE is privatized. Any initiatives brought up for discussion are usually ignored. Business development (aka sales) is NOT compensated on the size of the deals, thus acting like a glorified administrator of consulting contracts. Sometimes it feels like everyone is unionized, and has a "union" mentality where only the minimum should be done. Little to no innovation, little to no intellectual property, little to no focus in on increasing intellectual capital.

Pros

CGI seems to have it going on when it comes to technology -- far better than DoD (previous employer). While i hate the fact that they make some of us move to certain areas, it is good that some people can stay where they are and work remotely. CGI does provide us with some great training -- that is actually beneficial -- you will never be bored. I even have seen how my former employers could do things better if they would do things like CGI. CGI sees the benefit of things like LiveMeeting, InfoPath, and Messenger. I like the fact that CGI does Profit sharing as well (even though i currently don't take part).

Cons

You either are REALLY busy or have nothing to do -- there never seems to be happy medium. A lot of people sit on the bench before being assigned to a project. That means that they have nothing to do. If you have nothing to do, you still have to sit there for 8 hours. Another thing is that for some projects, you have down time of not hours or days but MONTHS. And the worst thing is that before we get comp time, we have to go over by 15 hours. Essentially we are giving CGI 15 hours of our time every pay period. That is awful. I could understand five or six -- but 15?
