Pros

Salary is decent, some fringe benefits are nice like the share purchasing plan and separate sick leave.

Cons

The client is God, you are expendable. Don't expect CGI to back you up if there is a conflict. Only 2 weeks PTO for the first four years is ridiculous. Raises are minuscule. Advancement opportunities are nil unless you live in DC.

Pros

Good company to work for. I worked as a Contract employee at the New York Passport Agency. The pay was pretty good. Mostly friendly people you work with.

Cons

Cons at the New York Passport Agency are being a contractor. Since you aren't a federal employee they can fire you for anything. You can't fight it or appeal it. The PTO is awful. 1.54 hours a week. The 3 federal upper management in the front office talk about other employees when they aren't around. You can't trust them at all. Stay away from the NY Passport Agency.

Pros

CGI offers the basic benefits like most companies (health, dental, vision, 401k etc...). The president of CGI Federal is a wonderful human being who truly cares for the company and the employees.

Cons

The contracts organization is very unstable due continued poor management decisions. These decisions have caused almost the entire department to turn over and it is headed that way again. Management is petty and vindictive with a what have you done for me lately attitude. They do not trust their employees, understand what they do to make informed decisions, or empower them to be the professionals that they hired them to be. Nothing will change as it starts at the top of the organization and they are not going anywhere.
