Leadership in IT is all talk. They don't value the opinions or the ideas of the front line people and even some of the managers. VP's and Directors run the show in a manner that drives technical debt and creates workaround after workaround. This place suffers from Silver Bullet Syndrome worse than any place I have worked. Consultants have a bigger voice that employees and it creates a very frustrating place to work if you are an innovative type. We have lost some amazing talent and we are losing the most talented architect I have ever worked with simply because management will not get out of their own way. Because of this lack of belief in their own people it drives management to look outside to hire new people to solve all the problems, then they squash every idea the new person has. This is something that is discussed often within the teams.
