Pros

You are able to use your id to pay for prescriptions and meals which they will take out your next check

Cons

Good ole boy network - they say they want new ideas but when you give them they don't want them, most of the employees are so nervous about losing their jobs they just accept any type of treatment they dish out, the leaders for the most part are married to one another, they don't give raises, if you get sick your screwed even though you pay into STD and LTD you can't get it. If you want a go nowhere job this is the place for you.

Pros

The people at Christus Health are caring toward other employees and customer and enjoy what they do. They are very giving of themselves. Most manager's insist and standby 'family first' when time off is needed while the company and fellow employees offer support where needed. Internally, there are education programs offered to maintain licensure, certifications and bonuses for achieving them.

Cons

There is no opportunity for career growth outside of certification and it's easy to become stagnant and bored. There are no committees made up of worker bees, so change comes slowly as management has a lot on their plate. My income and position will not ever change throughout my employment here.

Pros

People work at this county facility because they like caring for the indigent and low income patients, additionally, covering all the trauma services. It takes really special people to do this work, so coworkers are awesome special!, they work hard and show great pride in their work I respect my coworkers as well as like them as people.

Cons

ADMINSTRATION! From the top down! Middle management is the worst. Managers are promoted thru the "perter principal" meaning having "manager" in your title does not mean you do it well. Those in higher positions could really use some training in leadership, management, and communication skills. Additionally there exists huge inequity of treatment. Managers favor whomever they please, bullying in common, and tolerated, it's become the common culture, the saying was never more true, "Nurses eat their young" Also, get used to learning by fire. Work performance expectations, regardless of the training you receive, are high from the get-go. Learn office politics early on in order to succeed and survive. Get used to doing a lot of work and not getting credit for it. Friendly and helpful people should look elsewhere for a career; everyone is out for themselves.
