Pros

Unlike other healthcare employers in the area, Christus is less likely to cut staff during economic downturns due to being non profit. Christus likes to hire new graduates, so a good place to get necessary work skills. Currently expanding into new locations.

Cons

Lower salaries than all other health care providers in the area. Constantly changing benefits. Poor retention rate, with a marked increase in higher paid agency staff. Christus prefers to hire new graduates because of lower salary requirements. Has had to sell of a number of free standing day surgery centers due to competition and poor performance.
