Pros

The company has been around for a while and is stable overall but there can be a lot of turnover in some departments.

Cons

This company pushes the Catholic faith quite hard. They pray before meetings and events and even "annoint" you when hired. But the issue is not necessarily them pushing Catholicism, it's the fact that beyond the praying, they dont act very Christian. From the medical director to the COO, CAO and CFO they wield a lot of power in a negative way. I heard one of them literally say "Im the boss, when I say jump you say how high" and "if you don't do X. Ill just fire you". While it is true that an employer can fire you for any reason in Texas, using profanity or being a jerk is taking it a bit too far. I am all for firing people for cause but that doesnt happen here. Promotions are also not based on merit but on the rapport you have with C level execs. They dont mind working you late during month end and will literally lay a guilt trip on you if you do not work late (like 11pm or midnight) when they ask you to. All in all, stay informed. If you can help it, don't work here, otherwise just know what you are getting into.

Pros

There are many committed staff here who care about patient care and the organization.

Cons

CHRISTUS senior management does not support staff. People are leaving, workload for those remaining is crushing, projects are not prioritized properly, impacting patient care. There is chaos and confusion. Collaboration between teams has suffered greatly. Morale is very low. Salaries are low. Benefits are not competitive. There will need to be changes in upper management before things improve.

Pros

Four weeks PTO for new employees with more time given the longer you stay.

Cons

Toxic culture, upper administration and revenue clearly the most important thing. Physicians treated much more important than the rest of the healthcare team (nurses, techs, etc). Staff put in dangerous and license-threatening situations with the threat of “this is how we do it” but no backup when things go wrong. Staff will be thrown under the bus for hospital to save face. Management completely useless and given quarterly bonuses for staff completing surveys on their prowess; then staff targeted for being honest on issues with management instead of management being held accountable. Felt my license was in danger every shift.
