Pros

Good benefits Good work-life balance. Travel to many places and see many countries

Cons

Promotion is still part of the good ol boys club. I was from corporate America and very experienced but still was overlooked for less experienced career federal workers. Can't tell people what I did which was ok.

Pros

You will have many experiences you will not have in corporate America. The work can be exciting.

Cons

The management class either was not part of nor remembers what it was like to work in the field. Security is a little draconian and way behind the times! Many career services inside do not get paid what they are worth and others get paid more that their worth. Everyone wants to start at the top and not work their way up.
