Pros

The Mission is outstanding. You make a real difference in the world. The pinnacle of analysis. Always new internal opportunities and something new to learn. Lots of training opportunities.

Cons

Suffers from bureaucracy. Security protocols are opaque and cumbersome. Serious lack of racial diversity which can get very arduous if you are a minority.

Pros

Travelling is the number one upside of this job.

Cons

For self explanatory reasons this job isn't something you tell your wife, kids or friends too much about and therefore is more of a lonely job than you might think at first. Also the DC location kind of limits you to a certain degree.

Cons

Restrictions on certain things, lots of regulations and bureaucracy that can restrict some creativity, work balance issues and unaccompanied assignments to dangerous areas
