Pros

Flexible schedule Lots of locations to apply Decent benefits Employee share purchase program Don't have crazy long operating hours (unlike TD Bank)

Cons

Too many systems to use, and some of them are quite old Still using dot matrix printers...seriously Targets are getting a little crazy for 2012, but I doubt this is unique when compared to the other banks.

Pros

Learning state of the art business practices from a high performing shop. Process in place to tutor managers on how to manage (coming from a smaller shop,, this training is so valuable).

Cons

Sink or swim here, a real Darwinian environment. You have it quadruple hard if you come from outside CIBC or another big bank. It takes months to get used to how things work, who/what your resources are... you need to invest time to really become independently competent because people ae too busy to help. And they are hiring like crazy right now...but I also hear they fire like crazy too. Its not a flat organization, very much an active hierarchy even down at the associate/assistant mkt manager/mkt mgr/sr mktg mgr & director)

Pros

Ok compensation and good benefits (including stock purchase plan) Job security Downtown location is convenient Free banking a bonus Tech devices provided (e.g. BB)

Cons

Bank’s reputation is poor compared to competitors and is poorly led at the most senior levels (no vision) Caustic internal culture (open antagonism between teams) Work life balance for top performers is not there and contribution not recognized Very political internally Overly bureaucratic and risk adverse in areas that don’t matter and not enough in areas that do Compensation not a good as competitors
