Pros

Income was ok. Benefits were pretty good. Never worried about Company from a financial aspect. Work hours were somewhat flexible.

Cons

The politics were absolutely ridiculous. Everyone was protecting their turf. If you were attached to someone above you who was attached in the right political line at the top you could do OK. If the person at the top changed then your chances of advancement was very much at risk. Forget working after 3:30pm in the afternoon. You couldn't find anyone in the towers downtown after 3:30pm. Really harsh place to work. Would never go back.

Pros

When it comes to Technology exposure, CIBC is one of the best banks to work for. They are generally far ahead of technology compared to any other bank in Canada. The employees have heart and they do their best and protecting the business

Cons

Too process oriented. unfortunately some have taken the ITIL methodology too far, to the point of creating a bottleneck for almost anything. Projects take 4 times the length and troubleshooting requires the approval of everyone including VP's - even when there is an outage. The Change management staff are paranoid and considers administrative tasks as changes to the environment. This poses problems cause to do even a reboot of a server, VP approval is required.
