Pros

When it comes to Technology exposure, CIBC is one of the best banks to work for. They are generally far ahead of technology compared to any other bank in Canada. The employees have heart and they do their best and protecting the business

Cons

Too process oriented. unfortunately some have taken the ITIL methodology too far, to the point of creating a bottleneck for almost anything. Projects take 4 times the length and troubleshooting requires the approval of everyone including VP's - even when there is an outage. The Change management staff are paranoid and considers administrative tasks as changes to the environment. This poses problems cause to do even a reboot of a server, VP approval is required.

Pros

Good benefits, what would typically be expected at a large financial institution. Pay is average to slightly above average; similar to other job types in similar organizations.

Cons

Lack of standardization and organizational structure. Lack of sharing and communication of best practises between departments as expected in a large organization.
