Beware of fake news

Pros

Free snacks and the gym

Cons

Beware of fake news. This place has been going down hill for a long time and suddenly, there are a slew of positive reviews within a few days of each other? Sounds like management enabled reviews or people who have not been with the company long enough to really understand. Speak to people who work or have worked here - its a toxic culture that is it difficult to put in words because it is beyond comprehension.

Pros

Good name brand to use as leverage for getting another position in real estate.

Cons

You have to be 1) a family member of one of the founders or 2) willing to play the politics game to get ahead here. Pay is below market. Investments team members spend a majority of their time doing asset management work. There is no clear direction guiding the firm and no one responsible for developing its culture.

CIM Sells Itself and Employees Short

Pros

Very smart employees, amazing real estate in every asset class located nationally, exposure to top institutional investors and a variety of investment strategies,

Cons

Employees are disposable unless part of chosen few, wide disparity between Investment Team salaries and bonuses vs the rest of the company, executive mgmt not qualified to lead, constant gossip even at executive mgmt level, do not promote from within, no professional development opportunities, no corporate credit card (travel and entertainment expenses are carried on the employee's personal credit cards and then reimbursed, usually after a lengthy waiting period), smart employees are sought out by other companies and move on because CIM doesn't value them or given them any reason to stay
