Excellent Organization with Plenty of Opportunities for Growth

Pros

DSC is a very flat organization, providing lots of opportunities to work on visible projects. Process improvements are approached with a collaborative 'all hands on deck' mentality. It is not unusual for the CEO or SVPs to go out on a Distribution Center floor to speak directly with associates. Employees that are interested in expanding their skill sets have opportunities to do so given the variety of projects available. New ideas, new technology, and innovation are always welcome. Several of mine were implemented after management review.

Cons

Because the business is constantly 'on call' for our clients, the work flow may not always be evenly paced. Some work weeks are standard, others involve evenings and weekends, particularly during a start-up. Within the past year or so, several well-liked executives retired, however, the new leadership team has hit the ground running and is truly engaged.

Pros

Guaranteed 40 hours a week. Decent honest pay compared to most places. Work friendly team members an environment. Open door policy which is great when discussing issues. 24 hour facility with 3 shifts. Can do shift changes if you need to with a 24 hour notice an approval.

Cons

There is a considerable amount of lack of communication between shift managers. Managers panic an try to put out fires that aren't even a problem. Managers take you off of assignments without you finishing them which hurt your production an productivity. Places you in situations to fail rather than succeed. Once you fail they complain about your production. A heavy amount of favoritism when it comes to work assignments an promotion opportunities. No on site HR. An where their was the HR acted like you were bothering them instead of trying to help you. Have certain people in positions that don't fully know how to perform their job an duties properly. Abuse of "power" by shift managers. Lack of professionalism by shift managers an leads.
