      Good opportunities, poor pay and benefits

      Pros

      Get to see a wide variety of work compared to a big 4 firm, excellent hands-on training the first 4 years of employment, a variety of CPE course options, friendly people, managers are willing to work with you for scheduling conflicts.

      Cons

      Very poor benefits (health insurance and 401k contributions is only 4% with 6 year vesting). Pay is low compared to industry average especially for all the hours worked. Busy season is not the only time working 50+ hour weeks. Jobs are often under staffed.

      Pros

      If you are a regular employee the Company will invest in ongoing training in your field, (or so I was told).

      Cons

      The company expects an employee to work practically all the time, 24/7. If you do take time off for any reason, expect to have to make up on weekends and/or after regular work hours, I felt pressured to never miss a day, no matter how sick I was, which only made things worse in the long and short run. The company doesn't engage much, if at all, with their contingent workforce, such as contract and temporary staff.

      Diversity of clients Ability to select industry to specialize in National firm without crazy hours of a Big 4 firm

      Cons

      No bonuses 401k match is small Workload definitely differs between employees Lack of ability to keep experienced staff Nobody outside of our existing clients knows our firm
