Some good people, but definitely a man's world

Pros

Met some good people, got a lot of experience in the corporate world, and gained a lot of knowledge about steel, purchase and sales contracts, customs entry and phone sales.

Cons

This is definitely a good ol' boy company trying to make it work in 2018. Advancement was easy to do if you were a man. Women tended to work twice as hard and get half the recognition. The company preferred to hire men from outside the company rather than promote a woman from within. You were paid salary and it was not bad. BUT the hours you needed to work to complete your tasks was definitely not balanced with the pay. I frequently came in early and worked well past 9pm and still had too much work to complete. Received promotion upon promotion in the lower level/back office - only to be passed up constantly for higher level promotions by men who didn't know how to do any of the work. I then had to train them - knowing I had more knowledge and experience but lacked a certain appendage made it hard to keep from feeling a little jaded about the whole process.

Pros

Direct supervisors are good. Benefits are average.

Cons

Upper management are children of the higher up corporate management. "Family oriented company" but taken to the extreme by management being children of corporate mgt. These children have never had to do any labor type work or work with people at all in any labor or operations related type work. Born into their positions they know accounting from university but have no idea how operations work despite them knowing it all. This is a public company not a private one. If your related, your an idiot for not getting in on tha free ride. If not, your just another 5,000 of us listening to these children.
