Pros
Good company to work for. Rebar is a very challenging trade, to say the least. Benefits are competitive, 401k, stock purchase program, phone, company trucks to use. The office and shop personnel at the fabrication group are great to work with and for. I work M-F and a Saturday once in a blue moon, maybe a couple of weekend phone calls. I have received a raise every year and a bonus every year which is a lot more then I can say for some contractors I have worked for.
Cons
General Contractors don't like you, the concrete contractors you are subbed to don't like you. Nobody gives you any information yet they are mad when the rebar comes out wrong. Engineers constantly making changes which lead to rebar being wrong. Very few successes as far as the projects really making decent profit which is frustrating. Constant phone calls all day long from the field labor sometimes because of shop drawing issues, sometimes because of general laziness, sometimes because the delivery is 30 minutes late.
