Pros

Pay is good, coworkers are great, flexible PTO and people work with your schedules

Cons

There is no set dead period and everything is deadline based which makes it difficult to schedule PTO without feeling guilty. No clear path for advancing, you basically have to ask what you should be pursuing to earn more compensation and more responsibility.

Pros

Flexible schedule and unlimited PTO that you will be guilt tripped if you take too much in leaderships eyes. Constant flow of work that management constantly scrambles to meet deadlines.

Cons

They are acquiring lots of new firms and have no basis of design or project flow to coordinate between offices. They are in the business of creating drafters rather than engineers. Leadership does not want to teach higher level engineering principles or standards. Talk a lot about leadership but are scared to confront problems in the office. Very my way or the highway and no explanation for why they do things certain ways “because it is the way it is” and “you don’t know what you don’t know” well it would be nice if you would try to help me learn or show me what I need to teach myself. Do not do review of work before permitting. They prefer to wait for the contractor to complete design build documents and work with the contractor. Half of the employees do all of the work, leading to employees who are trying to prove themselves working 50-60 hour weeks. Bonus plan is very lopsided. High promises with low follow through. If my bonus was just off of my overtime hours then I would have been paid about $21/hour of OT. A good rate for a person doing manual labor with a GED. This is in a office that posted record profit margins in back to back years while I was there. Bad benefits package through UHC. You work under the BlackStone umbrella.
