Pros

I haven't seen any. Union takes $200 a month, doesn't do anything for you. Gross over $3k and clear $1.8k....... Seems logical.

Cons

Don't expect big money. Huge responsibility but not in pay. Management is out to get you. They want you to fail. Safety is non-existent. Never met a safety officer or someone who was in the position. Tons of lip service. Don't expect overtime. If you're on the spareboard, don't expect a life, you're on call 24/7. $250 for a yard job, no OT. A turn $300 to $500 depending on the situation. But that's only 2 to 3 times a week. Management has a quota on fails. Completely stuck in 1883 with their safety culture. Not behaviour based. More punitive

Pros

Great company, amazing benefits and pension. Most peers and supervisors we're supportive and great to work with.

Cons

No work/Life balance, Horrible shifts and lots of short changes as well as being OT forced to stay for another 4 hours after a hectic 8 hours shift. No time for lunches. Some bad apples in upper management that belong in the stone age.
