Pros

The wages are pretty good. There is a pension you pay into, however it has been continually reduced over the last 20 years.

Cons

On call 24/7. Managers get bonuses for finding faults with employees. Very limited notice as to when you’ll be working. Amount of vacation time is quite low, especially for starting out. Have to jump through a lot of hoops just to get a day off and at the mercy of the managers approval even for personal days.

Pros

Working at CP as a diesel mechanic was a great job. The training they provided was simply being placed on the locomotives with experienced mechanics, and doing as you were told. The pay was good.

Cons

They're trying to make the v required for keeping your job there. F that. Moody managers, incompetent leadership, etc. Just keep your head down and do your job, ignore the drama. Shift work sucked. Gotta work for a decade or two before you have a shot at dayshift.

The people who work there are some of the best people to work beside. Great pay always on time. Room to grow. Safety is always #1.
