      work life balance is non existent, low moral, continuous downsizing and positions are not backfilled, probations are the norm when they used to be something one never heard of, management determines where you move within the organization, employees are not valued

      Pros

      The opportunity to learn and be part of and enormous inter-connected industry of rail, freight, shipping, manufacturers and technologies is beyond compare. There's nothing like getting to work hands on with as unique an entity as the railway.

      Cons

      The hardest part is the long hours and pressure to stay connected through vacations, time off, and work more than anyone else. The payoff is a great job with lots of interesting work and people, the good pay, the exposure to all kinds of knowledge and experience, and the opportunities for advancement.
