Pros

Benefits, job security and a leadership that cares for its employees. What else can you ask for

Cons

City owned. Have to get approvals for everything.

Pros

Money, benefits, you'd have to really screw up to get fired.

Cons

Top leadership doesn't have much of any technical knowledge about what goes into maintaining and expanding the power grid. The workplace is very political and decisions are made to make senior leaders look good over what would be the most cost effective way to support the public. If this wasn't a government run monopoly, it would probably fail from mismanagement rather quickly.
