Pros

If you like people, do well in a job that markets to customers at a retail store level (like Sam's Club), this would be a great job for you. You could find this was a fantastic opportunity to have a great paying job in this area and work part-time. This type of position could work for working students, parents, etc., who are needing part-time work. Sounds great, but is it?

Cons

The Supervisor is the key to your success in this company. If the RSE is supporting that Event Specialist, things will go well for them. If not,...good luck. At the Mishawaka Sam's Club, there has been numerous problems with the present and past RSE's underassigning work to Event Specialists for their own "personal reasons". That should not be part of the scenario at Crossmark. Event Specialists who have a proven success in sales should have at least four events per week assigned to them, since that is what they were told by the Recruiting Dept. of Crossmark when the ES was hired. Additonally, why is the RSE's (present and past) able to get away with that type of unprofessionism and assigning more work to the other "less productive" Event Specialists? RSE's make up excuses and follow their own rules when their upper management is not close by to supervise. This happens quite a bit there.

Pros

-Really good pay for the area, especially for a part-time job -Small benefits package included -You get to talk to a lot of new people

Cons

-Was belittled in front of customers -Manager was brash and harsh with her words, would constantly micro-manage the team -The employees were not made aware of changes in how things were run, such as adding "runners" to the team. No one was given the opportunity to apply for these positions, the manager just selected random people. The next time I came into work, I didn't know why a coworker was treating me as if I was inferior until I later found out she was "promoted" -I was asked any time I went anywhere what I was doing, even if I obviously had supplies in my hand. Even when I would say what I had them for, I was second guessed and looked at as if I was an idiot. -Unrealistic expectations of what was needed to prepare food. I wouldn't be given the proper utensils or cookware and it became such a chore to make the food that it took away from the customer service I provided. -No break area. Forced to sit in the food court with customers but were told that we couldn't sit there if there were too many customers. That left outside on the curb or in your car as the only options.

Pros

Outdoor surroundings are aesthetically pleasing. In house cafe has good food.

Cons

Nepotism, favoritism abounds. Mgmt. just wants to hear what they want to hear and nothing else. They talk the talk with their so called, " Service Excellence " program, but they do not walk the walk! If you disagree or question mgmt., you will no longer be in their good graces. I have never worked for a company that totally turns a blind eye to what is going on. Recruiting Mgr. can make or break your ascent in the company. Upper mgmt. does not look at the long-term effects of their decisions. Nor do they want to hear anything that is contrary to what they believe and want to hear. So much time and money is wasted on illogical ideas that are never well thought out. Management states that they want to keep the lines of communications open, but discourages it at every turn.
