Pros

People who have become your friends. Dollar for dollar match of 401K up to 6%. Flex time depending on your manager. Relatively good amount of PTO with 3 weeks the 1st year, 4 weeks the second year, and 5 weeks beginning the 5th year. Good work/life balance, depending on your manager/department.

Cons

Bad managers who have no people skills continue to remain at CSAA while driving away good, hardworking, knowledgeable employees. There is no succession planning for employees to move up and get promotions. Medical benefits are expensive and is not keeping up with the annual merit increase. There is no accountability when it comes to going over budget or expensive projects not performing. The company does not believe in promoting from within, but would rather hire someone from the outside who usually do not have insurance experience. The company has created many useless positions with highly compensated executives that are considered "empty suits." The company's technology is so outdated, I don't know how CSAA will continue to keep up with the more "progressive" companies.

Pros

They give you a pay check.

Cons

Laying off tenured employees right before their retirement. The constant reduction in work force of knowledgeable, seasoned, frontline employees for "green" employees outsourced to Oklahoma & Arizona. When top Executives & VPs publicly announce to it employees, "no layoffs or office closures will occur this year", only to comeback 2 months later and say, "your positions have been eliminated and we are closing the office this year", shows the level of respect and courtesy to its employees who are the ones in constant interaction with its members. The fact that Executives decided to move the 100 year old company from its roots in SF to Walnut Creek and erect a brand new office that will only occupy 2/3rds of the workforce currently in SF and at the same time announce the expansion of a new Oklahoma office to replace its current employees shows again shows its commitment to its employees in being honest and communicative. More like dishonest and contradictive.

Pros

Work-life balance. And I have a great boss. Real passion for the Member and the Brand among employees.

Cons

100% process and 0% execution. The only bigger bureaucracy I know of is the DMV. The most dysfunctional senior leadership team I've ever seen in my 25 year career. Systems, technology and data infrastructure is embarrassingly bad. We've spent $500 MILLION of MEMBER EQUITY in the past 5 years on systems upgrades that are complete failures. Accountability and competence seriously lacking or altogether missing.
