A relatively stable job in times of economic downturn. No variable compensation

Cons

Too much favouritism in promotions, appraisals and hikes. Only a lucky few will get to work on the latest technologies. Most of the time you'll be compelled to work on some outdated technologies. Even when a new development project is available on the latest technologies they'll still keep you side citing your prior assignment. Worst ever resource management in IT industry.

Varied industries and contracts offer multiple opportunities to learn new skills Your teammates can turn a dreary contract into an exciting opportunity to learn

Cons

Utilization is *everything* - all is well as long as you maintain high numbers, but woe be upon you if you dare prioritize anything but CSC. This isn't necessarily visible to you until you require flexibility - a sick child, a spouse stranded on a freeway, etc. Where other firms allow the use of vacation time to deal with life issues, CSC apparently feels this is "unprofessional".

Good people - very competent hard working people - very focused on the customer.

Cons

From an internal management / control point of view CSC takes a very low tech manual approach to management and finance. CSC does not invest in it’s business and does not invest in it’s people.
