Pros
1. Benefits package is good - affordable dental and health, sick leave and vacation time accrues regularly. 2. Relaxed environment for the most part 3. Opportunities for education, tuition reimbursement 4. (For me) close proximity to home, other locations not too far 5. Company gets recognition as one of the best places to work and receives a lot of awards based on this.
Cons
1. Just as others have described, management needs a total revamping. When you never see your manager and get phantom evaluations based on this, it seems a bit unfair and taxes morale. No meetings, just cryptic email messages or brief 3 minute negative reviews and then you don't see that person again for months. How can an employee be fairly evaluated this way? 2. Communication between management and employees leaves a lot to be desired. 3. You can grow here, but don't expect much help. Anything you do is going to be by your own effort. 4. Politics comes into play when it comes to promotions or bonuses. Usually if people like you, you will be rewarded. Even if you put your all and effort into a job, it will look good on your evaluation but enjoy your very marginal pay increase. 5. They never close, even when adverse weather conditions and government closings happen. They require you to burn up leave in this instance.
