Pros

The advantages at CSC are not the ones that will makes a difference to other companies. You have flexi-time, benefit points, 23 days of annual leave, salary around 30k CZK (can be less or slightly over & depends for which departments you work for). Referral program (up to 15k CZK), rotation program, free coffee and water, meal voucher at 80CZK (40CZK deducted from your monthly salary per meal voucher), every two weeks we have free fruits. There is a good friendly atmosphere between colleagues, there is no doubt about it. However, it does not mean that there is a good professional atmosphere... It all depends as well in which team you are, which manager you have and how is your team leader. My colleagues are really friendly but on a professional point of view, a discrepancy is visible. You can end up finishing the work of team member because, he/she spent his/her time chatting in the kitchen/relax room, spent the day on facebook, or playing foosball games... If you like to work, it can be an opportunity to be seen as professional or as well an opportunity to end up in a nightmare situation where your work is a "never ending story". Some departements do their own events: teambuilding during weekend, team breakfast, team lunch, and so on... CSC is at the moment moving to a new location (from Stodulky to Pankrac). The new offices are luxurious, brand-new, and better located than before. Parking places are available, you can as well park your bicycle there. Shower and locker room available. In my case, I am satisfied with my team-leader: friendly and eager to help. As long as you are doing your job, showing your motivation and aiming better performance. Some of my colleagues complains a lot, but on the meantime, they do nothing that can proof there pseudo hardworking behavior (chilling in the kitchen, playing 2hours foosball, being half an hour out of the office eating ice creams). Not even their behaviors show professionalism, some of them are childish. It depends on the department you are working for of course... (O2C dpt in my case) Nevertheless, I haven't seen neither heard that such lazy behaviors were warned by managers. So, lazy people, you are welcome here, you'll feel good and at home here, without fearing to be fired (as it's really difficult to be fired at CSC). My O2C manager is good! She finds time for you when you have things to tell her. She is cheerful and always here to help you. She has a good approach to her team ( around 60 employees including team leaders). She will be replaced soon and we will miss her. Good luck for the new coming manager, we hope to see you as good as her and if possible "spotlight" the employees that are looking for performance and doing well their job. I'm satisfied with my manager but colleagues from other departments are not in the same case as I am...

Cons

As described previously, colleagues that are doing their minimal tasks can lead you in an uncomfortable situation. The work for some team members is really repetitive. Perfect to lose your mind and becoming an office monkey by providing the best copy/paste work ever. If you start from scrap for a project, you are lucky. Getting promoted is everyone's dream, as long as you are working hard, but even so, it's really difficult as the management keeps its position well closed (90% of management is composed of friends and will not let an intruder coming in). My colleague(s) are doing mistakes, as you are working in a team, someone has to check their work. If you are the one, good luck... Don't get mad if you see them chilling somewhere in the premises, it won't change anything, they will keep that habit, because you will be there to fix their mistakes and do their urgent tasks, and they know well about it. They are friendly, that's a reality... But most of them are not suitable to be a professional colleagues. The hard workers/workaholics usually quit earlier as you quickly feel that it's not an environment for them. No rewards for their performance, and in the worst case, abusing of their motivation. I have "lost" few colleagues like this, because their Team leaders/managers or even colleagues were using them to get their jobs done, and getting credits from it, and letting the one who did everything rotting off. You enter with a smile, you get out tired and demotivated. There is a "joke" in the company when you see newcomers on their induction day, that says: "Run away, as long as it is still possible." Here's the spirit! Most of the colleagues will tell you: Working at CSC is a waste of time. IT company that has casual IT troubleshootings... What a paradox... You can end up not working for the whole day, because no one can fix your computer. The worst is for the newcomers, who after 3 months are still not able to work, because no one provided them the credentials for SAP, Outlook or Lotus Notes... Does not happen often, but still... Best way to give them a good image of the company. Some team-leaders acting like the big bosses, but spending their days playing foosball. Any current or ex-employees from O2C department knows about whom I speak... If you can get from him any greetings on morning when he is coming in the office, be glad of it. Last but not least... CSC merge with HP Enterprise... That represents a blurry and creepy future for your job at CSC. Do not think you won't be affected by a social plan. Some colleagues were already affected by a move of services to India...

Pros

I really loved working at CSC up until about 1 year after Mike Lawrie became CEO. The pay was competitive but I most enjoyed the job because of the people I worked directly with. Having joined the company mid-career I was fortunate to pick up on some great experiences that continue to carry me forward for other career opportunities. My role was 100% remote with travel to customer facilities which I very much enjoyed. I was always able to look forward to some interesting travel which took me to places that I had never experienced.

Cons

I missed the childhood of my youngest because of the demand from travel. It was just part of the job. The company culture took a steep dive after Mike Lawrie came aboard to carve up the company to sell. Morale hit an all time low and I decided that CSC was no longer a place I could all home which led me to consider other job opportunities outside the company. I do miss my old peeps but staying would have been at the expense of my own health always wondering and worrying if the pink slip would shown up tomorrow. I still maintain a friendship with some of my old coworkers who tell me that things have not gotten any better; perhaps maybe even worse than when I left the company over 2 years ago. This reinforces that it was a good time for me to leave when I did.
