CSUF - Assistant Professor in Business Perspective

Pros

Really great environment and job for this school being a regional university. I have really enjoyed working and living in the area. I think like any place, it has its pros and cons, but the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

Cons

The big downsides to probably any CSU school is the lack of resources. We have pretty good resources here at CSUF compared to the other CSU schools, but pay and research support is probably below average compared to peer institutions. But, the Dean does have some flexibility.

Great coworkers, little opportunity

Pros

I had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students, my coworkers in my department were incredibly bright and dedicated, flex schedule (in my department but the university condones this), and a great relationship with my superiors.

Cons

I am unsure how other departments are structured, however there was virtually no opportunity for advancement in my area. After a restructuring I worked outside my classification for 18 months. I repeatedly requested reclassification or for an increase in compensation to no avail. If you want to keep great employees, you have to treat them like they are valuable.
