Pros

CSX has a good annual bonus and seems to be thriving in a bad economic environment. When the company is doing well, the annual bonus can be really nice, but can also be non-existent when the company is doing badly. As an Employee, CSX really seems to treat employees with respect and provide an understanding environment. CSX also has many benefits that companies seem to be dropping such as pensions, tuition reimbursement, and medical benefits.

Cons

CSX is a railroad and has an "old school" view of the world. Technology is not retreat with respect and there is no forward thinking strategy. With Technology, CSX is reactionary and does things on whims without any fore thought. Since we are forced to rush and meet unrealistic expectations of uninformed individuals, most projects lead to downtimes or unmet goals. However, since they are completed ontime and onbudget they are viewed as successful: even though they cost the company more money in the long run. The work is thusly challenging and frustrating, but with pay and compensation it is very difficult to leave.

Pros

Good people on direct teams

Cons

CSX has always been a premier employer, however, in the post covid flexible environment they are falling far behind other employers in the Jacksonville and national markets. Employees have been very open about the fact that that would prefer the possibility of hybrid positions but the company has his head in the sand and has made little to no accommodations. Remote positions are offering higher salaries for professionals. Along with the higher salaries, remote employees do not have to pay for gas. Individuals working in the office are indirectly making lower salaries than people working remotely due to gas. Office employees are also losing 1-2 hours a day to commuting which is unnecessary. This amounts to almost a full extra week of work (just in drive time) that we are dedicating to our employer. This has a huge impact on lifestyle. The company should raise salaries to accommodate for this discrepancy or allow more flexibility. At the end of the day, we have less time with our families and less money. Something has to give. It seems they just don’t care and are not listening.
