Pros
$30.00 an hour and great insurance. I can't really think of a lot of good things to say about CSX. You can be an idiot and still get hired.
Cons
If hired, you will be placed on second shift or cat eye until your retirement and you will have Wednesday and Thursday off. You will never see daylight. Management knows nothing about locomotives. The shop where I work is more concerned with catching you doing something wrong, so they can charge you or better yet, walk you off of the property. The union, "IAM", is worthless. You pay them to hold a spot on the overtime board. The electrical craft is catered to by management. All other crafts are made to do each others work. I've never worked around so many lazy people in my life. Management forces overtime. Management doesn't care if you repair the locomotive as long as you sign it off in the computer. Production over safety is the norm. Don't believe the safety hype. Management trying to make seniority system wide. The system is huge. Maine to Florida.
