Pros

Pay, benefits, railroad retirement, coworkers are big pros but that's about it.

Cons

They're always trying to fire you for anything and everything, work/life balance is terrible, always on call until you have the seniority to hold a "scheduled" job but can be bumped by a senior employee anytime, frequent furloughs, weak union, poor morale, ungrateful management, you pretty much have to call in sick just to get a day off.

Pros

Can't say that I have any - once I was hired as a full time employee my entire viewpoint of the company changed, and not for the better.

Cons

CSX has been in turmoil for the past several years. Employees are constantly worried about being on the chopping block. The only reason people stick around is to get railroad retirement. They feel stuck because that is hanging over their heads. Best advice I can give to anyone there is to look elsewhere before you're removed permanently. They keep saying they're "trimming the fat," but to be frank, the company is basically anorexic now. Customers aren't happy, employees are miserable, but shareholders are pleased that their wallets feel fatter!
