Pros

Opportunity of growth in other areas OUTSIDE of CVS. Meeting new people Potentially okay for those who need balance between personal and work life.

Cons

The salary is a completely dissatisfying when compared to its competitors and the only one that really makes an decent amount yearly is the Store Manager. The annual raises that employees are granted every year are also incredibly trivial to those who are making minimum wage or close to it. Once minimum wage increases, their raises become mostly insignificant. Of the three years I've worked there, the annual raises were quite dissatisfying. Most employees that sent out on the floor are sometimes NOT capable of finishing the tasks that they are given due to the time restraints and busyness of retail. This is something management needs to understand and NOT attempt to scold employees because of this. There is a lot of drama that occurs and there is a lot of "Favoritism" especially to those who are unreliable, but this is usually the way retail works in general. The problem that should be noted are those who work hard and FINISH their jobs only to be discarded aside and have hours cut.

Pros

Competitive pay and benefits are the most attractive benefits with this company

Cons

Extremely long hours and no life/work balance. All Tops down operation. Poor senior leadership. Operation is like an "old boys network". Very minimal females at high ranking positions. Poor representation of diverse employees at mid to high level.

Pros

It ain't rocket science. Training program is thorough. A good place to start your retail career. Salary is about the going rate.

Cons

I got a bad feeling about this comapny right off the bat. The store I was assigned to do my training in had no idea that I was coming. After one day of work, I was told I needed a particular training class before I could continue. That class is only held once a week, so it was another week before I could start. The hours at my particular store were a bit harsh - open until 12:00am in a bad part of town. Factor in a long commute, and I was getting home at 1:00 am and expected to open at 7:00 the next morning. Then came the cutback in everyone's hours. I was hired to be full time but they consider 27 hours full time. Not easy to live on that in California. Needless to say the morale in the store was terrible.
