Pros
The benefits are quite nice, especially in light of the economic crisis. CVS will match, dollar-for-dollar , your contributions to your 401-K (up to 5% of your pay). At least as of early March. Raises are decent, but again please take with a grain of salt due to the economy - they may not remain thus. I've heard of store-level employees in a different district being capped at 2% (you can usually get 4.5% with an excellent review.
Cons
It kind of goes in with the Senior Management feedback - they do not have ONE CLUE what goes on in the stores, what it takes to keep them running smoothly. We lose precious time every day doing pointless, stupid tasks from 'corporate' - time that is TAKEN AWAY from actually helping our customers, in effect. And then we're punished for not giving *every* customer personal attention? It's all about "the numbers" to CVS Anything and everything can and will be graded, including things that we have no control whatsoever over. Take drive-thru. You're graded on how long people have to wait at the DT, so if you're in a store where the majority of the customers use it, and there are always 5 cars in line, that's an automatic failing score. I will not be surprised when they invent a way to measure our efficiency in taking restroom breaks. Where I work, it's 'the norm' for pharmacists to check well over twice the "recommended" limit of scripts from the State Board of Pharmacy. CVS keeps pushing for the maximum scrips per man-hour they can get with zero regard for their employees and minimal regard for their customers.
