Pros

Advancement oppurtunities are laid out vey well and a clear career path is shown to all employees.

Cons

You aren't encouraged to have a life outside of CVS and you are punished or admonished for choosing your personal life over your work life. You can be completely dedicated to your job durring the hours that you are at your job but if you don't eat ,sleep, or breathe CVS then upper management tends to have no use for you. the constant switching of supervisors leads to cofusion about just what is the priorites of your job. It changes with every upper management change. You get repromanded for things the privious supervisor thought were priotrities but the current supervisor does not. If you have the misfortune to have a supervisor that has no life and doesn't care if they don't spend time with their friends or family they tend to treat you as if you are lazy if you do want that time for things outside of the company.

Pros

CVS Caremark is in a fast-growing sector that will continue to benefit regardless of political party in power in Washington. The combination of a top tier PBM such as Caremark with a leading retail pharmacy like CVS shows that management is thinking about the future and how they can shape that future of healthcare in America. The compensation is good but not great. The compensation, benefits, time off policies will depend very much upon the particular division or group that you are employed in, though I was happy with mine (Caremark legacy group). The integration of CVS and Caremark is ongoing and there is some work to do.

Cons

CVS Caremark is in an industry that, although it is in the business of healthcare, many people, including politicians, seem to take certain financial aspects of the company out of context to show "greed". I am confident in saying that CVS Caremark as a company does try to improve people's healthcare and doesn't have company policies in place that would in any way jeopardize health; however, it is such a large company with many employees, and some of those employees may take shortcuts occasionely to reach goals. The compensation is good, not great, and I've heard that the corporate office can be a tough environment.

Pros

Good 401k matching and stock purchase plan. Healthcare benefits are around the same price elsewhere. Discount in store is OK. Not a problem to get the hours needed even in hard times. Decent vacation time after being employed for five years.

Cons

Don't expect to go anywhere out of the pharmacy. A person hits top and there is not too many places to go up the corporate ladder. Raises are done minimally except for the normal yearly raise. Raises are not done on merrit too much. Sometimes feels like upper management cares more about the customers and if they are happy than if the employees are happy.
