Pros

Caremark has a lot of great people doing great things. The training for new associates in lower positions is great. You get a lot of support.

Cons

If you are an experienced professional, be careful and don't join Caremark in a position that you believe is going to open new learning opportunities while taking advantage of your experiences. My experience was that if you don't have a really good base already in the area you are hired into you can be left adrift. Even though my hiring manager knew my background during the interview, I didn't misrepresent anything. In the end, working on a team where the average time with Caremark (and it 's predecessors) was more than 20 years, I was unable to gain the knowledge expected by those working with our team.

Pros

Job security (unless you screw up big time *and* annoy others), 401k match, work life balance/work from home days (varies by dept), stock purchase program. Some departments have a great set of intelligent people.. other departments have clock-watching 9-4:59ers.. just depends on whether you get lucky (or not).

Cons

6% salary bump for all promotions no matter what (which means your annual raise will always be 1-4% at best), benefits are constantly changing ("to align with industry") which includes cutting PTO accrual, blatant favoritism, general reluctance to get rid of incompetent workers (it takes at least 1 year to fire someone here)
