Employees come last

Pros

The Pros are that 30 hours is considered FT and qualifies you for Healthcare benefits, albeit terrible and very expensive. Holiday shifts are typically reduced hours and are paid at time and a half.

Cons

Employees are not well respected. There is a very high turnover rate. You are constantly asked to work extra, requests for time off are frequently denied. If you are sick, you are pushed to find coverage on your own and or work another day in another location on a day off. The managers are so overworked and are responsible for so many clinics and providers, you can't even get in touch with them. They often do not even live anywhere near the clinics and may be in another state altogether. The company is focused on volume not quality. Providers are evaluated based on volume, computer speed, and net promoter scores based on patient surveys. The company continuously downsizes, changes its model, job descriptions, and policies to meet budgets. The computer systems go down routinely. The IT department is unable to troubleshoot and the average time spent waiting for them on the phone is 30 minutes or more. There are no prescription pads so providers have to call in scripts when the sysyem goes down. The phones also go down at times making patient care even more challenging. The NP works alone and is responsible for every aspect of keeping clinics open and operational on top of total patient care and housekeeping.

Pros

Autonomy, expanding scope, EMR easy to work with, Quality focus

Cons

Cutting back on CME, no paid holidays - hours cut during holiday week, starting 120 hours of PTO but only if you work 40 hours - do not offer this- with holiday week work cuts and 90 hours of PTO if you work 30 hours a week, the PTO is 90 hours a year - not enough

NoT Longer An Ideal Place to work

Pros

- Good pay - 3-4 day work week if you are full time. - No charting at home. You get to leave work at work. -Practice guideline are in place and are a good reference.

Cons

-Providers use to be able to set their own schedules. This is no longer the case. There is a template in place. Home providers work out their schedules, and if you have a good partner (or willing to stand up for yourself) you can have a fair schedule. -Some patient's think they can come in and request whatever they want, be it narcotics or an antibiotic for their cold. It can be annoying but I suppose you can see this at any job. -The insurance is awful. Very little coverage, yet the insurance is costly. -Can be difficult to use vacation time accrued due to poor staffing, so there is a high turn over. Most providers work for Minute Clinic to gain experience, and move on to better jobs within 6 months to a year. Some leave in as little as 3 months. - Have to work every other weekend if not grandfathered in. I heard the company is trying to move providers to every 3rd weekend, but the process has been slow. -The provider is responsible for marketing the clinic. Not an appropriate role for a clinician. Providers should be seeing patients, not walking the aisles looking to bring patients into the clinic. It makes it difficult for patient's to take the providers seriously. -CME days were reduced from 4 days to 3 days. CME reimbursement has also been reduced.
