Pros

Working for California Closets, Suffolk County, was truly a great experience. It's more than a company, it's a family. As a designer you're given ample training which includes training sessions both virtually and in person and a shadowing an experienced designer along appointments. The hours are very manageable and you will be able to create a healthy work-life balance. The owner, Vera is the backbone of the company and will guide you through the entire process and beyond. She has created a team that works effectively both independently and together and values each and every one of her employees. The values of this company are so strong because of who she is and the work environment she has created.

Cons

Nothing I can think of.

Pros

I loved the other designers - we were all pretty supportive of each other.

Cons

This is a huge job and the pay doesn't match the job. You do everything. You do the consultation, all the designing on CAD software, you are the liaison between client, staff and installers, you project manage, you are the person that deals with the problem if there are installation issues. When I interviewed, I was so impressed that they said the job WASN'T a hard core sells job and that the product sells itself and they just want you to give good service and design. That turned out not to be the case at all...that's all they talked about numbers, numbers, numbers. The particular location I was at had horrible management...I saw people being treated horribly. I saw a few situations during training that they're lucky the new hire didn't file suit against them.
