Pros

There are no good reasons to work here.

Cons

Very toxic environment. Discrimination is rampant. Misappropriation of the public's tax money goes all the way up. Incompetent and lazy HR. Super confusing retirement, medical and dental plans. Very incompetent management that doesn't provide employees with the tools to do their jobs and, when things go wrong because of management, management is only too happy to go on witch hunts to punish good workers. Management says one thing, but does another. Always. They thrive on giving employees false hope. Serious lack of communication among management and co-workers. High school mentality and significant office politics among upper management. If you're not talking about how grateful you are to be at this crappy job, you won't get promoted. Your coworkers will lie to your face and most will talk about you behind your back. Very few customers actually get the help they need because this is a systematic failure. Don't expect any support in anything. Some positions have my higher turnover rates then others, but others are too afraid to leave because of some misguided mentality that this job is actually somehow worth the grief. Being extremely underpaid and underappreciated. The organization is a HUGE failure of its own mission to get Californians employed. Every part of this job and organization has been designed to make it more difficult for job seekers to be helped and for employees to be helpful. You will not be paid enough to deal with the drama, toxicity, incompetence, stupidity, mismanagement, lies, immaturity, etc. All the signs are there that this is a terrible place to work for. This place is the perfect example of how DEI gets misused. Whether or not you like Trump, his claims about DEI being bad are very clearly accurate here. This is a horrible place disguised as a place of hope for those who are looking for help. The best help the EDD can do for the public, based on the quality of services customers get, is to shut down and stop taking away so much from its tax payers.
