Clear purpose and mission to enable the success of broadband service providers large and small
Pros
Management cares deeply about work/life balance and creating an environment for everyone to thrive, both professionally and personally. Not just empty words - it is baked into the culture of the company. Product development has evolved into an orderly quarterly cadence release that has become fundamental to Calix development culture. While it can be intense at times, the entire organization understands the deadlines and is now used to planning way ahead. It is becoming a well-oiled machine that can be seen in the high quality, predictable releases. The new product engine is ramping with state of the art technology showing up production ready at first release. If it isn't production ready - management will have an orderly one quarter delay, learn from the slip, and reset customer expectations. No one is sitting around worried about losing a job over one incident - rather we strive to be better, better, never best. Calix rewards high performers and when necessary realign those that are underperforming. World class supply chain team that has kept our customers growing during challenging macro events outside of our control. Finally - the culture and mission are 2nd to none. Everyone shares a common purpose - enable our broadband service providers (small and large) to provide best-in-class user experience and be competitive against those that are trying to relegate them to be a dumb internet pipe. We win only when they win. Compare this to the business model of some of our competitors who view the broadband service provider as a means to get access to the end subscriber data for monetization. The data/money grab philosophy is a recipe for a toxic company and Calix has absolutely none of this.
Cons
Some growing pains (which is to be expected with all of the new hires) - specifically managing around 24h time zones of this global team.
