Thank you for the feedback. I frequently say in public forums “Don’t let me be wrong”, which means if you would like to discuss something (feedback, opinions, perceptions) send me feedback, many others do daily. If you have not heard me say that, I then explain what will happen. First, I will say thanks, because I appreciate ongoing dialogue, feedback, and good debates because that is how I get better as a leader, and our culture gets better. Then one of two things will happen, if you are right, I will thank you again and take corrective action (listening, learning, and adjusting is part of life). If I do not agree with you, I will share my opinion and context (Diversity of opinion is the lifeblood of a strong culture). As you said, don’t shy away from it, as “toe the line” is not who we are as a culture. Better, better, never best is who we are at all levels – and that only happens through open and transparent discussions.
