Pros

Easy work, since it's very old

Cons

First read only the negative reviews as these are the real ones in my opinion. Outdated Technical Leadership: Management claims to be tech-savvy and knowledgeable about AI and modern technologies, but in reality, their understanding is outdated and superficial. Efforts to introduce new ideas are often met with resistance or dismissed entirely. Also Lack of accountability when something happens. Lack of Appreciation for New Employees: New hires are not valued or supported. The company culture favors long-standing employees, making it difficult for newcomers to integrate, contribute, or feel like they belong. Resistance to Change and Innovation: Growth and innovation are nearly impossible. The company heavily relies on legacy products and is unwilling to invest in meaningful updates or explore new opportunities. Any attempt at change is met with bureaucracy and hesitation. Stagnation and Empty Promises: The company is stuck in an endless loop of rehashing the same strategies with little progress. Leadership talks a big game about transformation and innovation, but in reality, nothing meaningful ever happens. The company lacks stability at its core. Culture of Fear. If you work under a good exec, you may not feel this. But if you don't, you feel it acutely. There is no accountability on the executive level. Bad execs blame their incompetency on their subordinates. So when something goes wrong, you feel it as an employee Career Growth is Limited: Due to the company's aversion to change and new ideas, Sudden layoffs: Layoffs always there, HR staff exists purely to hire and fire.

Calix Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience as a Calix employee. In Fall of 2024 we made the difficult decision to re-align our talent strategy to meet evolving product needs and business goals. This transformation includes a re-architecture and a shift towards new technology, and there is a clear strategy for how we will get there. We’re learning through this transformation and recognize that change is difficult, especially at our current pace. Calix senior leadership aims to create a culture of ‘better, better, never best’, and your feedback serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of accountability, transparency, and trust. Again, we appreciate your feedback as it helps make Calix a great place to work around the world.
