Pros

Some of the best reasons to work for Calpine include: great training, great leadership, fantastic facilities, superb diversity, work is challenging and is never dull.

Good for entry level professional experience but no room for growth

Pros

Good job for early career professionals looking to put some professional experience on their resume. After you get over the hump of learning the business all the technical work is very repetitive and easy. This job taught me to use Excel and other analytical tools in a professional setting.

Cons

After a few years I realized there is no room for growth at this company due to the nature of how the business is set up. You have a handful of seasoned leadership staff and a bunch early career analyst with no in between. I often found myself working long hours due to how many meetings there were through out the day. Pay is also not competitive and management is not open to salary negotiations aside from annual merit increase, which is below current inflation rate.

Company does a great job at making things fun from providing free breakfasts daily and monthly catered lunches.

Cons

Too focused on expansion that they lose sight of retaining employees needed for expansion. Increased workload results in little to no work-life balance.
