Pros

Salary targets are at the mid point of the industry - which are very competitive. Benefits were OK, however are declining at an alarming rate.

Cons

Little value is given to experience, Employees all treat as being "replaceable". Real power is centrally located with little chance to make a difference outside of the corporate office.

Pros

Calpine is a good place to work if you like downtown and enjoy having a "total" comp package including a decent salary, bonus, stock compensation, and low cost medical benefits. Work/life balance is ok, but highly depends on your team and the nature of the work.

Cons

There is no clear path for career growth. Lots of favoritism, and personality problems on the trade floor especially.

Pros

Employee focused company with good compensation and benefits. Executive Management is accessible, forthright, and very capable. A great company to work for if you care about what you do and take initiative.

Cons

Despite being a company of power plants, the company does not seem to understand power plant operators and shift work. The company has a laser focus on financial discipline, as it should, but not much on power plant operations.
