      It's an exciting place to be given the type of research and science being done on campus.

      Office politics suck. But it's expected anywhere you work.

      Very steady job, lots of opportunity to learn new things

      Pros

      You can get a good salary if your contribution to the project is valued. I get to travel a lot because my project is an international collaboration.

      Cons

      Academic environment could be a turn down for some and the opportunity for an advancement is not that great. I may be just speaking from my own perspective here.

      Advance research experiences, top scientists and very smart people. Small school keeps everyone closer and staff are very friendly. Funding support is very adequate.

      Cons

      must work very hard to move forward; social opportunities are much less than big universities; getting promotion is not easy.
